How often should you change bed linen?
Question:I am very lax at changing the beds in our house, ours at the moment has been on for four weeks! I change the kids about every three weeks unless they need it before, although they have been on longer. I'm not the best at house-cleaning as I hate doing it and just walk past dusty furniture meaning to do it soon! Any advice/tips to motivate me greatly appreciated.
Answers:
Ewww.all that sweat clogging up the sheets and the millions of dust mites.
Once a week at least.
I am sure you are not the only one and i would bet that not many would admit to such. I do mine monthly as well.
I do like to dust regularly though as I hate seeing clean me in the dust !!!
My friend does her every 2 weeks.
just think of all the dead skin cells and dirt that your laying in you should wash you bed linen at least once a week and hoover your mattress because of allergys and dust mites .aim to change the linen once a week
I change mine every 2 weeks or so, whenever they feel clammy.
In the summer I sometimes change them more often as it's hot and sweaty at night. I guess it just depends on how dirty they get.
every week
It should be done at least once a week to ensure that the bedbugs are killed.
If not done regularly you run the risk of spreading/catching scabies, Headlice, excema and other dermatological conditions.
You might want to rethink about leaving the bedding so long especially with children in the house.
bed linen should be changed at least weekly ,just the smell of freshly laundered sheets as you drift of to sleep gets me motivated.
If you can't face doing the linen, take it to a serviced laundry. Fortnightly changes should be adequate.
I change mine every week without fail, more in the summer
I know some people that change their bed sheets once or twice a year. If you or your family have asthma or allergies to dust you should change them once a week, otherwise it doesn't really matter that much.
i think they're supposed to be cleaned every week. but i lack at that too. i probably wouldn't even change mine as regular as u, lol it takes up a lot of time, after all times precious!! =P
I change them once a week, think it's a presonal choice thing, maybe you like sleeping in sweaty smelly sheets?
You could always do a room a day and that way you only have part of your day taken up with doing housework and the rest free for whatever it is you do?
set yourself up a daily/weekly routine
put things down for daily e.g hoovering, dusting, washing, bed making, kitchen clean, bathroom clean etc
weekly, window clean, ironing, attend to gutting out cupboards/drawers, dust cornices in ceilings, clean paintwork,
hope this helps
i would do mine between 1 or 2 weeks.
personally mine get changed twice a week. i don't mind having to spend almost 45 seconds pulling sheets of the bed and it is not like our grand mothers days where you had to stand over the washer and scrub by hand (even then my sheets were not left that long)
you pull them off and put them into a machine and walk away, as for looking at the dust and saying i will do it soon, i could not live in such conditions, not only would it make me very uncomfortable knowing it is there but the added health risks like bronchitis or asthma chesty coughs allergy's all these things have to be taken into account
Once a week! You will also feel refreshed and clean. My hubby used to do the same, when i was away he would go up to a month without even making up the bed,so i showed him a certain program on the telly about dust mites. And he was like "do you want to tell me that I've been sleeping with those?" and i just nodded at the same time making funny faces going like eeeewww! wriggling my body like really something was eating up on me. Up to today he knows that linen must be changed at least once a week.
Well ideally, at least once a week. Imagine all those skin cells and that body oil and sweat. Can't stand a stale bed or bedroom. My daughters gets changed a bit more often.
Once per week.
Every Sunday afternoon I wash and dry our blankets and sheets. Clean sheets are a great start to the new week!
i normally change all bedding once a week and vaccum the mattress in summer i change the sheets at least twice a week as the kids get really messy playing out .
Get everyone in the family to strip their bed on the day you want to do bedding then get them to put their bed back together again it will make your life easier.
I think once a week is the minimum. Not sure about your house, but if our sheets are on the bed any longer, the upstairs (all bedrooms) begins to smell like the bear exhibit at the zoo! Of course, I'm the only female in the house and the boys tend to get a bit sweatier and stinker than me, The Petite Flower! LOL!! :) But seriousely, dirty bedding is not pleasant, not the way I want to live, and not the image I would like to project to friends and family. Not just for the smell, but for general cleanliness and health issues, it really is best to change all linens (bath and hand towels, bath mats and rugs, sheets, etc.) at LEAST once a week.
I begin my morning routine every day with tossing in a load of laundry, so it's kind of a no-brainer for me. I just do bed/bath linens for my Monday laundry, although it usually takes 3 loads to do one queen sized bed, two twin beds, and bath linens for a family of four. But if you think about it, it takes one minute to strip a bed, about 2 minutes to walk it to the washer and get a load started, 1 minute to get it into the dryer and start it, zero folding time since you'll just put the sheets back on anyway, and about 3-5 minutes to remake the bed. I would estimate that the total time to do this once a week for my whole family is about 30 mintues. Eminently do-able and well worth it! Once you get used to doing it and it becomes a habit, you'll never want to go back to stinky dirty sheets.
Hope this helps!
It depends on you. In the summer, I like to shower before going to bed so I am cool and fresh. How dirty can the sheets get ? Unfortunately, my husband does not and neither do the two dogs who sleep with us. Once or twice a week, depending on what the dogs have gotten into. They bathe once a week also.
once a week!
OH god - we sleep with two jack russells and i THINK i changed the sheets about 2 weeks ago! what must be living in my bed! aggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg...
twice a week sorry but the thought of dust mites which can develop into eczema in the children... I strongly recommend twice!!!
PS remember to hoover you mattress
i change mine every2 weeks but every morning as soon as i get up i spray my bed with fabreez it stays nice and fresh for when you go to bed.
At least once a week is probably best, knowing how much the average person sweats in the night - and not many people shower before bed. Plus.think how lovely it is crawling into clean sheets!!
Dr. Oz from Oprah and Maggie off of the t.v. show How Clean Is Your House? both say once a week. Because it lowers the chance of getting dust mites. Dust mites can cause skin irritants and breathing problems if left untreated. The best way to get rid of them is changing the sheets and vacuuming the bed.
Once a week is adviseable, I personally look forward to the smell and slipping into the freshly laundered sheets.
