How do I get my roomates to clean up after themselves and chip in around the house?

Honestly, nagging them is the only way you will get them to help out. I know it sounds terrible, but they will do it just to get you to leave them alone. I have had room mates and that is the only thing that ever worked. I even did most of the cleaning and only asked that they kept their room and bathroom clean. But if I didn't get on their case, it didn't happen. Good Luck :)

It will take a household meeting. Set up rules and a schedule (rotating) for duties of cleaning. Good luck if you are not the owner of the home.
If you are doing all the work around the Place then you need to get them together and have a list of the chores with a rotating schedule and a price that the chore is worth and if they dont do anything and you have to pick up the slack just give them a bill at the end of the month shouldn't take long before they decide to help out around there
P.S. Yes I know that it probably wont work so take a video of the mess and tell them you will send it to their mother if they don't straighten up LOL
Most likely by you moving. If your roommates were slobs when they lived at home with their parents, not much will change when they move out. I've noticed that mothers will baby their sons and continue to clean up after them. This is crazy!! My son was washing his own clothes at 14, cleaning his room and doing chores around the house. I am preparing my son for the real world, and not have him depend on a woman to do everything for him. I am teaching him to take care of himself, and to find a mate that can equally contribute. If daughters have to do this, why can't sons do it. It takes nothing away from their manhood, it just makes them better partners.
Have a meeting with them. Either they start doing their share or they pay you to do it for them. Be a little generous with the amount you charge for your service, I gather you want their help.
Join flylady.com. Put together a schedule of what needs done on what days. Hold a meeting w/ your roomates & tell them you have joined flylady & they need to chip in. This helped with getting my family to chip in at home.
A meeting will not work because I have the same problem however its a family member. They dont do anything. Weve had talk after talk and they somehow think that because they dont spend "most" of their time in the living room or kitchen they dont have to help clean it. Good luck
