How do you remove sticky residue from a large amount of vinyl?

Question:my kitchen chairs are made of naugahide. they have a sticky feel to them. the same has happened to plastic slipcovers and window shades that i have. is there any way to get rid of that besides trashing??

Answers:
Sounds really strange but use WD-40. I use it on my linoleum floor all the time, works for shoe scuff marks as well. When we put our linoleum tiles down there were sticky spots from the glue and it came rite off with that. GOOD LUCK!!

Ammonia should break it up (try a test spot) and it is really cheap.
Degreaser will work on it as well.
Lighter fluid might work, but it could become expensive
The only thing I can think of is trying some rubbing alcohol applied to a towel or cotton ball. I don't know if it would work or not or the consequences (i.e. color removal, etc.) but it might be worth a shot! I use it all the time to get sticky stuff off of plastic, my car and other things!
WD 40 will take adhesive safely from any surface. It does not harm the finish and works great. We used it just this morning to get stickers off our desks here at school. I have used it for years to remove sticky residue from a variety of things - including my hands!
WOW..sounds like j!zz...Bleach it babe
something oily like skin so soft goo be gone or there is a car air fresher that smells like oranges that we use at my work to get the sticky stuff from the price labels off the shelf
works great read the labels first on any thing you use to make sure it won't hurt the vinyl
