What's the best way to clean tarnished sterling silver jewelry and silverware?

Question:

Answers:
I like the aluminum foil, baking soda and hot water method. Place a sheet of aluminum foil in a glass pyrex or other baking dish deep enough to accomodate the silverware. Put in 1/2 cup baking soda and cover the items to be cleaned with boiling hot water. Dry the items immediately once the tarnish is removed to prevent the water spots from tarnishing quickly.

Several commercial products are available in grocery-Tarnex is one that comes to mind.
my mom taught me to use tooth paste (not gel) and an old tooth brush it works great .
