Answers:
Yes it is a pesticide :) Anything that kills pests is a pesticide. Bacteria are considered pests. I believe Lysol's main ingredient is alcohol, but I'm not sure. The fact that it is used to kill bacteria means it is a pesticide. This is a fairly new part of the regulation process though, the EPA and California are just starting to get their ducks in a row as far as antimicrobial regulation.
Interestingly, triclosan is also considered a pesticide and it is in soap and a bunch of other products. Look for an antibacterial product, and oftentimes, you'll see triclosan as an ingredient.
Another example is that under the right circumstances, salad oil can be a pesticide. Farmers use oil as a spray during the season when fruit and nut trees are dormant to get rid of pests. Hence, it is being used as as pesticide.
Dish soap and water make up insecticidal soap which gets rid of soft-bodied insects like aphids. There are a lot of pesticides in the household and you are right on in thinking Lysol is one.
Go look and see what your parent's have as far as pesticides, or go to a garden shop or hardware store or even a grocery store and you will see pesticides. Do you have pets? What kind of flea medication do you use? Do you have dogs? Do you have a heartworm pill that you give them? As I mentioned before, there are lots of pesticides around!
Here is an EPA website about types of pesticides that you can use to reference if you would like
http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/about/type... .
Good luck!
lysol is a disinfectant. although I have heard of it being used as an ant deterrent.
look on the web under household pesticides.
NO. pesticides interupt the nerve pathways in one form or another of insects. lysol dis- infects. however if you spray enough on it will kill anything.
i would not consider it a pesticide
how about raid
