How Do I Get Rid of Rust Stains On Cast Iron Cookware?
Question:And no "scrub with a potato", it does not work on heavy stains.
Answers:
Scrub with a SOS (brillo pad) until rust is all gone. Dry with towel and place on stovetop burner on low heat for 10 min, let cool. Re-season your iron. Heat oven to 375-400F and put a thin layer of oil or lard; bake iron cookware upside down for 30 min to 1 hour. You can repeat the seasoning process to ensure a good base is made to prevent sticking and rust.
steel wool, then re-season it and heat it in an open fire
buy new cookware
Okay steel wool, or use some CLR that works. YOu will have to rinse the pan and season it again.
Scrub with SOS or steel wool. Then reseason in the oven.
Spaghetti sauce or Lime A-Way works great!
try rubbing with cooking oil. Thats a quick way to cleane the rust. After cooking the pan should be washed and rubbed with a light (very small) amt. of oil to prevent this. I always have to do this with my wok.
Wire brush on a drill should sort it and then apply a stove paint and it will look like new
FIRST OF ALL NEVER LET THEM JUST DRY, ALWYS WASH THEM, THEN PLACE THEM ON THE FIRE/STOVE AND HEAT THEM TO DRY THAT WAY, IT WILL PREVENT RUSTING.JUST REWASH THEM
Rub some baking grease on your cast iron cookware. This works for my Mom.
I use an SOS pad on mine. Then I season it with veg. oil. I bought an old iron skillet at an auction one time and it was horrible. So I put it in my oven and turned on my self-cleaning oven . It cleans it great, looked like new. Of course I had to had to vent going on high because it caused alot of smoke. I still use it today.
