Ever gotten a ticket?
Question:I got speeding ticket sometime last month and completely forgot about it. This is my first ticket and hope its last also.
I'm sure I probably have a warrant for my arrest for not showing to court. What is there to do? I'm afraid to call the court and ask them? I might have the police show up at work to arrest me (is that even possible?) Please HELP!!
Answers:
your best bet is to call, and explain. This sort of thing happens all the time. Unless you're a real criminal, this sort of thing isn't really high on their priority list. the fine is higher but thats about it. If they actually do have to come after you thats when you start to have problems
They usually send you a notice in the mail before anything, and your court date usually isn't after a month. If you don't get anything in the mail you should call them, or best case scenario they forgot about it like they did my buddy's.
It may not be too late, if your court date has not yet come around. Do you still have the pink slip the officer filled out and gave you? Call an attorney who handles traffic violations and explain. He or she will help you manage the ticket by changing it to a minor violation such as an equipment failure (speedometer mishap, etc.) The fee will be anywhere from $70 on up, but it is much cheaper than allowing the ticket to go through court. If you are convicted of the speeding violation, your insurance rates will probably go up, thereby resulting in higher premiums for a long time until the charge is removed from your record. This could make a difference of hundreds of dollars per year!
Good luck with everything and I hope this helps you.
