It sounds like you will probably need to fumigate your home. :(
Call Orkin Pest Control They can HELP!
Fleas are definately a menace. There are so many things you have to do to keep the problem under control and it takes alot of effort.
*First is to go to your vet and get some Frontline or other flea application for your dog.
*You'll have to wash his linens (bed and what not) every week to kill the flea eggs out of it.
*Vaccum at least every other day (for the same reason the eggs)...if you have a bagless vaccume, empty into a plastic bag and close tightly, throw it away in your outside recepticle. If you have a bag you have to do the same just remove the bag and wrap it up.
*I would recommend you fumigate the house. Get some FLEA bombs and follow the instructions. Make sure they are especially for fleas, the other ones say they kill fleas but they don't.
PREVENTIVE CARE
*Fleas do not like citrus. Take some citrus peels (orange, lemon, lime) and put them in a large bowl or jar. Cover with boiling water and let it stoop over night. Remove peels and put the liquid into a spray bottle ( you can get 'em cheap in the garden center). Spray around your house as you would Febreeze...on all your carpets and linens. It's also safe to use on yourself and your family!
You can do the same thing to make a "shampoo" for your dog. Just boil everything together (the citrus peels, water and add a little vinegar) until it makes a "goop" and rub it into him and rinse.
* Cedar chips are a good repelant for your yard and home. Just spread em around.
I hope that this info is useful to you ! Good Luck in getting rid of those pesky critters!
Get "Raid Foggers" for fleas. Set one off in every room of your house. You will have to be gone for about 2 hours while they work. Then you vacuum or sweep up all the dead fleas. Take your bag out of your vacuum and burn it! You will have to use these Foggers more than once if the infestation is that bad. Then you will have to do it again in 3 weeks because they hatch out every 3 weeks. Fleas can get into your attic as well. They can also go dormant for up to 2 years without feeding and they can jump a mile in an hour. Also make sure your dog is treated with a flea medication on a regular basis as well. You will also have to have your lawn treated for fleas so you don't carry them back in.
Good luck!! I am also allergic to them and have had my fair share of flea infestations in a house I purchased. It was horrible. Please let me know how you come out...pdq132000@yahoo.com
