Question:The motor oil has been sitting for abotu a week.
Answers:
if still wet cat litter to soak up and coke to clean the stain use a good brush to scrub
sand and baby powder works pretty well.
A strong, caustic detergent and a power washer.
cat litter
You may try Windex with water and soap mixed in.
It will pretty well work.
greased lightening will work, i promise. it will work, if it does't do the job for u then u will need to go to advance auto and get one of the cleaners there.
there is this bag of stuff you can buy at auto stores that looks like cat litter. You put it on, sort of rub it in with your foot, then let it sit for a while to absorb the grease. It probably won't work ENTIRELY, but will help. Other than that, you can buy concrete cleaners at stores like home depot and lowes.
dirt and then grease removal detergent you can buy this at walmart not the dirt but detergent lol
I get engine degreaser from auto zone... 2-3 bucks. Spray it on the oil stains let it sit for 10 minutes or so and wash it away with a hose.
Now if you are talking liquid oil that is not a stain get the oil off with detergent or saw dust and then go to the other step.
Engine degreaser will get rid of the oil stains.
Some people might say, use some kitty litter or sawdust. Check with local garages and ask what they use. I don't know of anything that will totally rid the concrete of oil based fluids but there are some things that will soak some of it up. Otherwise, I would say, break up the concrete, toss it, and lay a new slab...lol Then it is truly gone.
Acid wash. Use muriatic acid. However, if U're not really careful, u'll destroy all the grass and other foliage around ur sidewalk, so unless U really, really know what u're doing, U probably want a professional cleaning service to do it. Even then, there are accidents, but they have to make it right for U.
Cheap can of coke.
soak it up with absorbent like "Kitty litter or Oil dry," Nevt, Use Driveway stain remover from auto supply store following directions, It will work. Do NOT use "POOL ACID," it desolves some of the cement and the finish looks like an ant hill (Bunches of little holes that hiss and bubble when it rains!)
Muriatic Acid will do the trick but follow the containers recommendation and wear rubber gloves.
Follow up with a good flush with household bleach.
Also if you go to the local hardware store they sell a chemical
powder just for removing engine oil.
I also removed it with Liquid Sulphite
Hey the guy I work with told me to pour regular Coca Cola on the garage floor wherever oil has soaked in. You know, it works!!
Muriactic Acid will get oil out of concrete. You can buy it at Lowes and Home Depot
We had motor oil that had soaked into the concrete garage floor for months under an old car. My husband found a product that was available only at Lowes that will take this out. You use a mop to swish it around, let it sit for about 30 minutes, then use a power sprayer. It was completely gone!
Kitty litter =D
