How clean is you house?
Question:i've watched several shows of the aggie & kim duo's programme 'how cleanis your house' & with each show i'm more gobsmacked than i was with the one before.
these houses are boggin really minging. I've seen maggots in the rancid fat in a grill pan , rooms where you couldn't see furniture for bin bags full of rubbish, pizza boxes strewn over , animal poo crusted on to the carpets & mouse dirt every where. do people actually live like that or are these houses/flats staged to look like that for the show.

Except for the breakfast dishes, I would be confident that even my mother would be pleased with my house!

The sad part is that some of those families have small children living in that filth! That should be criminal! My house has some lived in type clutter, but as far as dirt, all it takes in 15 minutes a day if you do something every day to keep it clean!
Those people are just scum, it's so disgusting. There's no excuse for living like that. My husband was a cop and got to go in a load of houses and he said there are plenty just like that.
My husband is obsessive compulsive about cleaning so as you can imagine, it's pretty spotless.
I've been cleaning mine this morning but there always seems to be some bit I've missed. Not seen any moggots though thankfully.
I don't mind tolerating a little untidiness but these houses are health hazards. You'd think the occupants would have continual diarrhoea, or worse. I can't believe they're not too ashamed to be shown on T.V!
I have the kitchen fitters/decorators/electrician... contractors in at the moment (I am taking leave from work for the duration) at everything is in a mess/dusty but usually I'm quite clean.
I am planning to do a real clean in my house tomorrow, but I can safely say that it is clean and fairly tidy, it's just nice to every once in a while to get stuck and do all those bits that general maintenance miss out.
I completely agree with you. I know no ones house is spick&Span, unless you have a maid cleaning every single minute. But its ridculous how someone could let themselves live like that. I am just as suspicious as you, it has to be somewhat staged.
I am the type where everything looks clean but when you go in to my cloths closet its a hot mess, cloths everywhere. Its laziness. But I do try and manage it at least once a week.
I`m not saying it happens all the time,but surely some of these programs are staged.I honestly cannot imagine that people can possibly live in the conditions shown on some of the worst examples in these shows.
I think that some of them are staged. But I do know it happens. There is a family from my home town that have had 2 houses condemned because they were so dirty and they didn't keep them repaired like they should have! So sad!!
I`m a 62 year old slob. my bungalow has washing all over(ready to be folded and put away, things all over my sofa ready 2 b sorted, but in reality it`s clean, for an old twit anyway looking for a careless housekeeper though.
constantly dirty, but newly dirty - we have two kids and all our neighbours kids are round at the weekends; barbies on Sunday for the adults, both work fulltime, clean up once a week and have a fantastic lady who does my ironing and vacuums up the garden which has been walked inside.
My house has LIFE in it and I wouldn't have it anyother way.
but there is nothing lurking that I would be ashamed of.
Of course TV takes on the worst - or makes it worse - no one would live like that unless they were out to lunch, so to speak!

I manage a cleaning company. There have been houses we have refused to clean, because they are pretty close to what you have described. So yes people do live like that, and I have seen worst.
Is my house clean? Of course it is.
yes im afraid people do live like that- i am by nature a messy person so there are always piles of stuff around the house such as books and magazines-but i dont think theres any need for dirtiness
Gosh--growing up in my house was like living in the trash can!! My parents and their friends were such stinking slobs as youve never seen!! Since growing up and moving away I refuse to live like that and have horrible memories of my childhood, and wonder at how I survived!
I've know several people that have nasty houses. But I'm with you the ones on that show are just outrageous. Its like the person that lives there doesn't see it. Like they block it out.
When I watched that show I thought it would be like an ordinary household but the episode I watched (could be biased cause I only watched one, and that was long ago) I was entirely shocked, how could someone live like that... I thought it was actually a bit of a joke, you know
"Hey lets a have a bit of a laugh"

"Trash (name)'s house and call that how clean is your house program"

I was taught that cleanliness is next to Godliness - and I have found it to be true. How can anyone be happy living in filth?

yes I watch that programme too its true some are really minging and bogging but that's usually because someone is not well or they can no longer cope?and they need to be inspired houses behaving badly are the same or its just they have never been taught properly?and how we would react is not how they would?yes a house should be lived in,but we know to keep on tract ,once you let it go you've had it,but yes there are a lot of minggers around thank goodness were not.
I love that show,it gives some great tips on cleaning...but ewwww i cant beleive people really live like that...my house is very clean...but since i got this p.c im doing less..lol.
I admit that I am totally anal when it comes to my house being clean. Yeah, it usually looks "lived in", but deep down, it is spotlessly clean. You will never see dishes in my sink, unmade beds, anything lying around, full trash cans, or dust. My frig may not always be as clean as I like it since its gone thru by myself and my kids constantly, but I try to tear apart and clean major appliances at least every 6 months, paint annually, and as far as the bathroom and kitchen floors...they are cleaned/disinfected daily. I think people that are on the show actually get to the point where they know its hopeless and dont want to take the time to clean thoroughly themselves, and to save money calling professionals, they go to the show for a freebie (and free stuff!) If there were not slobs and nasty housekeepers, there would be no show. It would be cool to be on Queer Eye show, dont ya think?
