How do you make your house smell nice?
Question:I just got done cleaning my house from top to bottom, room to room and Im not sure if it will smell nice.
yesterday after being out of the house all day long I returned and when I first walked in the door it had this kind of damp smell to it.
I clean every other day so how could I keep my house smelling nice?
Answers:
I use the Glade Plug-Ins in my house. Febreeze for allergens, and I use carpet foam before I vacuum.
I have a designated pot on my stove in the winter that I put cinnamon or potpourri with water and put on VERY low. I wouldn't recommend it if you have a gas stove, but works well with an electric stove. It also helps keep the air humidified.
If you don't want to do that there is an actual potpourri burner that looks like a miniature crock pot.
Good Luck to ya and I hope this helps!
you could use some lemon pledge to mop with or yu could put some real lemons in the water to make it smell nice.. you could also get some glade plug-ins and put them all around the house. or you could just open some windows and let the frsh air come in and circulate the air... it works for me hope it does for you.good luck
I clean with pure vinegar. Some people mix the vinegar with water. If you want a very fresh clean smell do pure vinegar. 3 days after I had cleaned my house from top to bottom with vinegar I had company over & everyone keep tallking about how fresh it smelt.
febreze smells really good...
Use: ''FABULOSO'', it has a long lasting fragrance and it can be used to wipe, clean, mop, use it in your kitchen, bathroom, etc. There are different scents, but the Lavender scent is my favorite. You can purchase it at Wal*Mart's. Look in the isle where the Pine-sol and other cleansers are located, you'll find it there.
If you are noticing a damp smell to your home I would be willing to bet that cleaning is not what you need to do the trick. I would recommend using a de-humidifier in your home to take some of the moisture out of the air. Usually the only way to get rid of an odor is to start at the source and by allowing too much humidity to build up you're opening up your home to the possibility of mold growth which does come with a distinct odor, but sometimes health risks as well. Try to get a de-humidifier that has a digital reading of what it brings the humidity level down to if possible. You want to aim for the humidty level to stay somewhere between 35% and 45%. Good luck.
use something smelly for the floor, like Mr. Clean and also use the plug-ins and open the windows to circulate the air. That works for me. Good Luck
When realtors are showing a house they will simmer cinnamon in water. It gives the house a comfortable "homey" feeling. You can use cinnamon powder sprinkled in, there is cinnamon potpouri available in stores.
i use bleach and water for the floor's, that makes a big difference i fabreeze my floor before and after vacuuming, Clorox everywere clean on the counters and table, i love that stuff.cling spring fresh sent on the toilets.i also keep candles allover my house, i don't lite them all the time but usually in the morning's.sometimes i use vinegar and water and Little rubbing alcohol in a mixture for cleaning counters too,it really freshens things up, and if cleaners give you headaches that works good for that.or you can always gets some glade plug ins. '~' hope that helped you a little.
use ps disinfecting foam, you get it at chain stores,,,,,in a white & orange can,,,,,,,,from kroger-jewel,dominicks,etc,,,,... problem cb mold on walls, around a plumbing leak, house hold dampness, for which you might get a dehumidifier,,,,,,,put the foam(like a few squirts) in an 8 oz bottle, put a spray bottle stem in the filled solution of water & foam,,,,aim the exhaust of a home depot porta vac across the nozzle, while keepin yer thumb across the bottle top, until you produce a fine mist,,,,,this you direct up & down, all throughout the house,,,,,this.plus a sunlamp from a thriftshop(these can get hot,,watchit around the kids) can get the house smellin nice....chase the kids outa the house for a couple hours while sanitation service is in progress,,,,,,,,the chemicals outa be diluted & safe,,,,,,,mcdonalds puts a lotta chemicals in their hamburger buns,so the ps i thinkll be ok
Get you some candles, and candle warmers to set around your home. Patriot candles from Walgreen's are the best, and reasonably priced. I clean every Saturday, but I always have candles warming, and I get complements all the time. Good luck!
We use Febreze on the carpeting and bedspreads/comforters/blankets... but not on the sheets, in case any of us are sensitive to it. We burn a candle in our bathroom that gets no air circulation (all interior). You could try one of those air freshener packets that goes in your A/C/heat intake, they seem to work well. You could also try the scented oil air fresheners, or the air fresheners from Bath & Body Works or Yankee Candle. The large Yankee Candles themselves are very fragrant, you could burn one in your kitchen. During wintertime you can keep a pot of cider and mulling spices on your stove. Good luck!
I don,t think there is a correct anws to this,But i always use magnolia and vanila air freshner. This smells lovly gd luck.
I use essential oil soy candles by Way Out Wax. I found them at Marshall's for half-price. They don't smell like perfume, they're essential oils and are not noxious. I love them esp. the "Citrus Harmony."

I suppose you could make your own home fragrance spray using water, alcohol and a few drops of essential oils you could buy at a natural food store.
CANDLES
I rub cinnamon oil that I buy from the health food store on to all of the wood services in the house and use a humidifier.
every morning when I make the beds I spray fabreeze on them and I take out the garbage every day I also pour vinigar down the kitchen sink after I have done the dishes.
After you have cleaned your house and cleaned the floors with any cleaner that disinfects, mop with diluted fabric softener (about 2 cups softener to a gallon of water). I use Downy Simple Pleasures Lavender and Vanilla. You can also use the cheaper version, I had coupons though. WOW it works so well. The first priority is to make sure your home stays clean though. I have 3 dogs and 3 kids so I am always cleaning. If you smoke, and I do, don't ever smoke inside. Don't waste money on burning candles. You are literally burning your money. Instead, buy some candle warmers. They work better, they are safer, and the candles last 10 times as long. Put a dryer sheet on your air filter in your AC. Change it out every week or so. Nobody ever believes I have animals until they are pounded by them, hahaha. Hope this helps!
