How do i shrink my fitted nike baseball cap?

Question:i've heard hot machine wash and hot dry. also, just getting the had wet, and then drying it. so what's the best way? will the bill of the cap get messed up because of the water?

i got this hat for free, so i can't get another size.

Wash it in hot water, and then dry it on a hot setting. It will shrink. My wife found a plastic cage that the hat goes into to keep the bill straight and the hat holds its form during the process. good luck.
