Well I hate to bust your bubble but I have been doing alot of research on air purifiers and most of them the most they will clean in your air is about 9 to 10% which still leaves about 90% of you air still full of pollutiants and worst of all most of the air purifieres that are on the market are being pulled because they relaese a harsh fume that damage's the ozon layer. The best thing is not to waist your money on one because they are not really that effective and just wash down your walls and the the fresh air in. this is a true story. just do a little research and you will come up with the same answers I have.
Good Luck!
you can buy a spray that so called gets rid of the smell but i don't know what it's called i htink it's called Naturall good luck.
Amcor is a good brand but they do many models. Get one with ionizer as they are better at breaking up smoke particles. Is the place carpeted? You may find that the smoke lingers on in the any fabrics and you may need to shampoo them.

if carpeted you may need to shampoo and was the curtains if you have them in your place. If you get an air purifier get one that will cover the square foot of your new place. and get a air freshener with a citrus blend or odor eliminator in it.
Smoking odors are really difficult to get rid of. The ideal solution would be to repaint and replace the carpets. If that is not possible you are going to have to clean as much of the place as you can.
