How do you get gum out of a sweater?

Question:I forgot to get my gum out of my sweater pocket before throwing it in the washing machine. How do I get the gum out without damaging the sweater. The sweater is composed of the following materials: 76% cotton and 24% nylon (and for some reason it says camisole 100% poliester (I don't know what the means). Also the sweater is white. Thanks.

Answers:
to get gum out of a sweater you have to put peanut butter on it first.

I use a product called Goo Gone.
It works very well but I can't remember where I bought it. I think I got it at Menards or Home Depot
Good luck
My mom used to freeze the cloth with the gum. Then took out the gum soaking the cloth in warm water.
I'm not sure if it works on all fabrics. I guess that, if the fiber is too thin or too "hairy", it gets more complicated.
It worked fine on jean pockets, shirt pockets.
De-Solv-It. Good stuff, safe to use. You can also use ice to get it off. It quite a process to do, but can be done. But in the future I would get De-Solv-It. It's a handy product to have on hand for many messes. Some grocery stores carry it, but if not Wal-Mart or any store similar should have the stuff and possibly hardware stores too. Here's a site to show you what the product looks like and is about.
