What is the name of the illness where the person never cleans up after themselves and hords everything?
Question:my friend has not got a clean dish in the house. Her carpet hasn't been vacumed. She saves the trays that meat come in. She has only a path to walk in from room to room. What can I do to help?!
Answers:
She could be depressed, clean it for her.
i believe its a pack rat, ask her what she even needs those trays for anyway, if you have to, throw them out, even better, throw her out then use her own money to hire a maid and organizing service!
Laziness.
It's OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. There is tons of info on the net, they hoard things or animals usually and get emotionally attached to about everything. Or they have anxiety about throwing away stuff.

It is supposed to be extremely difficult to manage and most don't ever stop doing it. It's a touchy subject to broach with a friend. Some people cannot make decisions about what to throw out or think they might need it "some day." There are even support groups.
If I were you I wouldn't suggest anything unless she brings it up and then maybe you can offer to help her just do a small area at a time. At least maybe make a box for charity and get rid of a few old newspapers or whatnot. Say you are giving a box of things to charity and ask her if she has anything to donate - even if it's a couple of items and she can part with them, that might start her on the right path. The worst thing to do is go bonkers all at once and do a major cleaning, bc that will just increase her anxiety.
To me, this sounds like she suffers from OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). People who suffer from OCD exhibit a myriad of symptoms and this is one type of OCD. If I were you, I would see if you can talk to her to see if she might be agreeable to getting some medical help for her condition without upsetting her, if possible. This condition is oftentimes helped by medication and/or therapy. Good luck!!
