How do I get what seems to be water spots out of my clothes?

Question:I live in the country and have a well. Somethimes when I do laundry I end up with what seems to be water spots on my clothes. At first I thought it was oil but, there is nothing oily in the washer with my dark clothes. Please help, I am tired of throwing clothes away!

Answers:
It's possible that it could be residue from liquid fabric softener. Try rubbing the stain with a bar of Ivory soap, and rinsing it thoroughly. You may have to do it more than once, and PLEASE do it before you set the stain in the dryer.

are you sure its not oil??sometimes while cooking it may splatter up on you and you may not notice...never heard of water spots though except on glasses in a dishwasher...
check your clothes before you wash them and pretreat them with shout or spray and wash..
i live in the country too. HARD water is so true. but that doesn't have anything to do with the spots. A lot of the times you cook and it splatters on you or even drop food that doesn't seem oily but it is. I do that a lot. you can use a fingernail brush and rub in ERA laundry soap and let sit a while or even over night, that should do it. good luck
