Answers:
wet the bowl then sprinkle biological washing powder over it leave it for a few hours then give it a good scrub its also really good for cleaning your bathtub too
Iron Out works wonders!
The Works, at the dollar stores.
lime away at wal-mart
Comet cleaner and a brittle pad will get rid of any discoloration.
Vanisol. It is an industrial acid cleaner, and quite difficult to get hold of. But I'm sure you'll find a supplier if you do a search. It is the best toilet cleaner I have ever used, and will remove all stains off of any toilet.
Word of advice, don't mix with any bleach as it gives off chlorine gas, which is toxic, and very bad for your lungs!
HG (haggesan)Blue from your local independant hardware store. Works right first time ! Happy cleaning.
you can get a pumice stick with a handle on it so your hands wont touch the yucky stuff...it works wonders..awailable almost anywhere..just rub on stains and they come right off...no chemicals, odor , and doesn't hurt your plumbing! They are cheap, too!!
Put some rubber gloves on and use scouring powder such as Ajax or Comet one of those green pads a bit of elbow grease and you're done.
actually - I would just get a new toilet if it's bad enough - I've tried everything also - and it's just not worth it to - excuse the pun - bust your butt trying to clean it all the time.
Drain cleaner. Be carefull it is very corrosive but it works
I saw an episode of How Clean is your House and they had a disgusting looking toilet on there. They used an industrial strength lime remover and let it sit overnight and it looked good as new. They said you can get it at a hardware store. Good luck!
Stay off the curries! Sorry, I just couldn't resist
Before you try expensive products try distilled vinegar on the stain.
I use a cleaner called Thieves. It cleans just about everything. I used it on my toilet to get rid of some mold and mildew. So it should work on the discoloration too. You can order it at www.moldrx4u.com

sounds like the enamel has warn away
i have used denture cleaning tablets when you drop a few in the bowl they fizz up drop several in the bowl allow to fizz and stay overnight then use a bowl brush. If it is real bad do this for several night it should work.
i agree with genny, also try to get the water out of the bottom first then you can clean it all, rubber gloves a must but be careful what your mixing as most chemicals react badly with each other, also try biological soap powder on a scourer,
Get down on your hands and knees and scrub with Comet or Bon Ami
