How do I get black (mildew?) spots out of white upholstery in my boat seats? I've tried bleach based cleaners
Question:I've tried bleach based cleaners but do not want to allow them to soak for extended periods as they will weaken the material. I assume these spot are mildew. They appear while the boat is stored between outings. Is the anything that you can allow to soak and hopefully penetrate the fabric? The fabric is marine grade vinyl and I've even used a 3000 psi pressure washer with the current products. Any suggestions that won't ruin my seats would be deeply appreciated. thanks
Answers:
Em Clean is a mold killer used on leather and I believe it is safe on vinyl too, it kills the spores which is what you need to do.
I had the same problem but was never able to solve it. Sorry
actually the best product in the world are mr.clean magic erasers...go forth and use! your seats will love you
TRY TILEX BATHROOM CLEANER IT GETS MILDEW OUT OF ALMOST EVERYTHING BUT IT DOES MAKE THINGS WHITER LIKE BLEACH DOES. IF THAT DOESNT WORK TRY ELECTROSOL DISHWASHER DETERGENT IN THE POWDER FORM MIX 1/2 CUP WITH 1/2 CUP BLEACH INTO A 2 OR 3 GALLON PAIL WITH HOT WATER. GOOD LUCK
