How do I remove a sticky parking decal from my car window?
Question:What is REALLY effective in removing the decal and the sticky residue? I'm not worried about the decal staying intact. Removing it in bits and pieces is fine with me. I'd prefer some suggestions using household items but all suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
Answers:
Alcohol (rubbing) and a razor blade!! Just pour the alcohol onto the gummy residue and use the razor blade to scrape it off. So effective.
You could try scraping it off with a razor blade.
Scrape the sticker, for left over glue use nail polish remover
get a new winsheild...it worked for me.
Use WD-40 takes it right off
goo gone, removes anything. good luck.
Use Goo Gone. It is specifically made for stuff like that, and it's great.
Little bit of gasoline on a rag should do the trick.
Try a baking soda and little bit of water mixture and rub it in with a scrubby thing and if anything is left try the good old razor to finish the job.
I use a small cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol to take decals and other sticky things from glass and it's always worked well for me. :)
go to auto zone and buy goo be gone.. It's cheap.
the easiest way to remove the sticky glue stuff believe it or not is to use a furniture polish that contains bees wax and just rub in circles is comes off really easy. i got this tip from a windscreen fitter they use it alot. you can also use it to get price labels off ornaments ect
Use rubbing alcohol! Scrape off whatever will come easily, soak a rag with the rubbing alcohol and hold it over the sticker to soak it for a minute. If it's a large area, lay a cloth over it and saturate the cloth with the alcohol. The sticker will scrape and rub right off.
I use Go-Gone... not only does it work wonders it also smells nice. Make sure you let it soak in... normally I soak a paper towel in the go-gone and then lay it over the sticker... you may want to get a putty knife to work it up a little bit... keep using the go-gone to get all the sticky stuff off and then to clean it all up I use a little Windex.
i agree, all work well,
Goo Gone, alcohol or the razor.
Alcohol. It aso works on getting that sticky stuff from bandaids off, Just use a cotton ball or paper towel or newspaper With the alcohol
To remove the sticker a razor blade from a utility knife.
Sticky residue
here is a list starting with what I have found to be the most effective
1: Zippo Lighter fluid
2:Gasoline
3:Nail Polish Remover (with acetone)
4: Rubbing Alcohol
5: goo remover
6: Brake cleaner
7: Automotive engine cleaner
8:powder Laundry detergent and small amount of water (make a paste)
9: Dish soap
10: windex
I usually scrape mine off with a sharp razor blade, and then use a little Windex to get any remaining residue off.
RUBBING ALCOHOL WILL TAKE IT RIGHT OFF
First, gently scrape off as much as you can with a razor blade, then use a product called Oops on a cotton rag to remove the residue. Use windex and a coffee filter, newspaper sheet or lintless rag to get rid of the streaks and you should be all set. Hope this helps.
oven cleaner will get it off pretty easy.
it also gets sticky price tags off of glasses, plates etc
I got slapped with a red parking ticket on campus
I borrowed an extention cord and used a
BLOWDRYER and a butter knife lol
it came off
get a product called goo gone from the hardware store or from wall mart
First, lighter fluid on a cloth, NOT paper towel,
cloth soft rag, or a bit of cotton GAUZE.
Second, Goo Gone. Same type of rag.
single edge razor blade in a blade holder to get most of the sticker off. and clean up residue with goo-gone. Or I use after razor Carburator Cleaner Spray and soft rag then follow with glass cleaner.
