How do I remove cigarette smoke stains on my house windows?

Question:I have tried just windex, and it did'nt make a difference.

Answers:
Vinegar and water in a spray bottle, or use rubbing alcohol.

Use paper towels, they work the best.

Krud Kutter will work much better than Windex. In fact, it cuts right through cigarette smoke stains on almost anything. I had a tenant that smoked heavily in a unit for almost 10 years and Krud Kutter was the only thing I tried that got the residue off of windows, mirrors, woodwork, kitchen cabinets, cultured marble, etc. I found it in the cleaning aisle at the Lowes. Great stuff.
Cheap and easy--
! cup of plain ammonia per 3 gallons of hot water will get smoke, or anything else that is greasy or tarry, off immediately. Just wear gloves and open all your windows when you use it!
A little easier than mixing your own ammonia solution -
Car dealerships have professional grade window cleaner (Mopar is the best) with ammonia in a aerosol spray.
It works wonders, and no gloves or open windows required.
