Treating stains to white cotton shirts?
Question:I own white cotton shirts (that I paid alot of money for too) and I want to take good care of them. I am accident-prone, and my mom bought me a Tide-to-go stick. Do these work? If I lets say spill beer or sauce or something like that on my shirt, should I immediately apply the tide stick with cold water?
thanks!

Tide-to-go stick is a carry with you item to assist removing stains when you are still in the shirt -- temporary fix.
Protein stains: oil/grease, food, grass, blood - - put full strength liquid laundry detergent (dish liquid or shampoo will work in a pinch) on stain & rub into fabric, wait 3-5 minutes before putting into regular load. I use warm wash & cold rinse on almost everything. Cold wash & cold rinse is to prevent color fading. Hot wash & warm rinse is for a white bleach load.
They are easy to care for, so you may never use the Tide-to-go stick. Washing them at a high temperature will clean them thoroughly. A trick of mine is to turn the garment inside-out when you put it in the washing machine so that the inside gets cleaned well and the outside surface is unharmed by either detergent or the heat of the water. This gives long life to any item of clothing.
I know you should for sure use cold water. Usually you can just put it in the cold water washing machine. But if it is a stain, make the shirt damp. Then scrub stain remover on it really well. Stick it in the washer. (cold) it may not go away the first time, it may take a couple of washer cycles. But that's how i do it. :)
I would. I also would use Shout Spray before washing it with Tide with bleach. Sometimes if you have a really stubborn stain putting lemon on it and leaving it out in the sun for a couple hours helps.
I've never used the Tide-to-go stick, but I do use the bleach pen, which I keep in a magnetic holder on the side of the machine. As long as it's white, the pen works great. Can't use it on colors, though.
