My washing machine wont agitate sometimes,but will fill & spin?
Question:it does it sometimes.My hubby messed WITH SOMETHING IN THE BACK OF IT & IT HELPED FOR A WHILE ,but it is doing it again...

I once had that problem we took it apart and found there was gunk all in the motor area like twisted around it and one thing looked like what use to be a sock that solves the missing sock theory too. we just cleaned it put it back together. my grandma had that problem too it was something different but she bought her washer and dryer from sears like 20 years ago they still came out and fixed it. so i would say look and see if you have some sort of warrenty or if you bought it from sears you do have one
Could be the timer
Depending on the brand of the washer, if it is a Whirlpool, some kenmore or kitchenaid they have what we call dogs in the upper part of the agitator when they wear out they will sometimes engage and sometimes they won't. They are little tiny plastic items and there are four of them that lock into the agitiator
its called a mechanical coupling that connects the gear motor to the motor.
