How can I make my clothes smell great?
Question:I am using Bounce Fabric Softner right (putting 3 doses of it in the laundry) but I noticed that I after I dry my clothes in the dryer (which is a bad dryer, it often takes 2 times to dry thoroughly), I notice that my clothes still don't smell good. Might the dryer be contributing to this? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I think washing your clothes in soft water makes a difference too. Soft water seems to keep that fresh smell locked in. Yes, your dryer may have something to do with it too. If it does get too hot when it is drying is can leave a burnt smell, or like the other guy said maybe it's not hot enough & it's smelling musty. Did you try using Downey in your rinse cycles? Or you may want to hang dry a few items & see if that works. Are you using enough soap? Just a few suggestions.
If clothes stay too long in the washer before putting them in the dryer they will develop a smell. Since your dryer does not dry fast it may be the same as leaving it in the washer too long. Try changing detergent.
I use the simple pleasures (I like the pink rose one ;) and I find that when I do not put them in the dryer, they smell pretty. For some reason, even though I use simple pleauses dryer sheets, the smell seems to go away in the dryer. So, hang dry the clothes that you really want to smell nice. That's what I do!
dryer might be the problem, febreeze them. My old dryer had a similar problem. you could also try oxyclean in the wash.
Hang the clothes out side in sun if possible will keep the smell fresh.
Are you using liquid fabric softener? If you are try using the liquid kind in the wash then throw some dryer sheets, I use bounce dryer sheets and my clothes come out smelling nice and fresh.
I use 2-3 dryer sheets and that works for my clothes. I also have a little gel air freshner that I keep on the shelf in my closet so they dont start smelling stale in there.
irecently bought a really cheap fabric sooftner (sheets) because i happend to be at the store and that was all they had... and i was out at home. The brand is suavitel and its called i think fresh flowers or sumthing like that. You can buy it at family dollar... anyhow.. i used it and to my surprise my clothes were SO soft and smelled ssooooo good.. even better than when i used snuggle or gain(which was my favorite). try using sheets, use a few.. not just one or two.. but 3 or 4... maybe get a detergent that smells close to your softner... make sure your lint trap is cleaned as well as maybe getting a brush to clean the inside of your machine where lint builds up if they are not drying right. Also, try making sure your loads are smaller sao the clothes have more ability to be cleaned properly. Especially if they dont dry as well as they should.. less clothes with have more room to move around and "fluf" as well as dry in a shorter time and not be all matted together
use gain
Oh bad idea, you are using too much fabric softner, just use a capful of the fabric softner this is why clothes are taking too long to dry as you are over softening your clothes and this will also harm the machine and dryer, don't use this method if you don't have to, I have a better safer and more freshening power than fabric softner without all those perfumes and is a lot cheaper as well, just use one cup of Vinegar to the wash water to remove all that over dosing of fabric softner, don't use any fabric softner as White vinegar will clean and soften your clothes and remove residues left by detergents and fabric softners, on other consecutive washings use half cup of White Vinegar in the rinse water or just simply fill your fabric softner dispenser with Vinegar instead of fabric softner this will keep your clothes fresh and clean and will lessen the lint coming from your clothes, when using Vinegar never use any fabric softner as I say it will soften your laundry and will also help to keep your washing machine running longer and help keep all the hoses and drains clear and free of residues and keep them running clear allot longer. Good Luck !
