your not going to believe me if I told you, but they sell this air purifier "vacuum" called the Filterqueen Majestic. They are absolutely the best cleaning tool you could ever have in your house. it blocks dust and bacterias 99.98% up to .1 micron. (which HEPA you only block 99.97% up to .3 microns.) plus it doubles as like 4 different things, like vaporises and it's approved by the FDA and is a Class II medical Device. Can your vacuum claim any of that?

Try renting the Rug Doctor.
by getting the best soap, and hand wash it.
try good ol baking soda
or fabree antibacterial spray
Vanish
If you dont own a steam cleaner then rent one for 20 bucks at your local store. DO not use the cleaner they sell. Use simple green.....it is very concentrated so use it sparingly It will n ot only make it clean as new but will smell great. Before you do that pretreat your pet stains. Pet urine is organic and must be neutralized with something organic or it will get worse mix white vinegar and water equal parts and soak the area and soak up with paper towels. Once you do that use the shampooer with the simple green. Good Luck!
I tore up my carpets after having replacing them 3 times in space of a few years cause of dog stains. Now I have cold lino on the floor.
all you have to do is get some laundry detergent put you carpet outside spray with a hose then start scrubing let sit for 5 min then wash down let it sit in the sun and it will dry and wala a clean carpet
With pets you would need to rent a rug doctor...but on the shampoo use half shampoo and half prespot laundry liquid, like shout...it helps get the tougher stains out...also use the prespot on the stains first and let it sit 30 minutes before you shampoo...I have my own cleaning company, that not only cleans, we do windows and carpets...that is what we do for rentals because they are the worst...you do not have the equipment we do...but you can do the same with a rug doctor:)

Yes the filter queens are awesome, and very expensive for just a normal house hold.
Rug Doctor
make a solution of bicarb of soda, and warm water. spray it on or sprinkle the area with bicarb, let it dry and then vacuum. the bicarb neutralises odour
First... never, ever use a 'built detergent' like washing up liquid etc, they leave a glycerine film on the carpet, which picks up dirt.
Use a carpet cleaning concentrate, as per the instructions, but add 20% ammonia. Do not use a power cleaner that is a vacuum as well, just scrub this solution in hard. Then, using clean water and wet vac, rinse out the dirt. This should get your carpet stains out. Dyson make a cleaner just for pet hair,

I agree with all the suggestions about renting a steam rug cleaner and the shampoos. The only other suggestion, I am sure there is a local Janitorial supply store near you they may have some products for carpet that is used in hospitals and schools that would clean the carpet and disinfect it too. When doing carpets make sure they dry good have plenty of air flowing and stirring if not your carpets could mildew. I clean houses and offices.
That's wonderful that you rescue dogs :)

Unfortunately, carpet absorbs everything, dust mites, doggie "presents," and bacteria. You could rent a steamer and do it yourself, vacuum daily. I prefer non-toxic cleaning products like SuperClean. They have a carpet cleaning product too.

Nature's Miracle is a cleaner/deodorizer that works well as long as your carpet is color-fast. You can spritz it around to help neutralize odors.

If any way possible, remove that carpeting and go with hard floors. There are flooring materials that look like wood, but they are washable. It's much cleaner and you can use some large area rugs here & there to soften the look of the room.
