Buy her that new Swiffer Jet Mop thing. It's like a broom, and duster and a mop all in one.. It's pretty cool. My husband bought me one, and I love it!!
I know this one all too well. Living in the country with Hardwood floors and laminate flooring..having 2 dogs and 2 cats. It doesn't take long for your nice cleaned home to go to ruin when its rained, snowed and plain old dust.
I user the Wet Swiffer's to help solve this. Now it doesn't take long to use up a pack of 12 or 24 in a 4 or 5 days so what I do is.. fill the kitchen sink with water and pinesole or Mr. Clean and continue to dip the Swiffer pad in it... To clean it off and of course to continue using it. When its really muddy or alot of dust, I will rinse the pad off on the other side of the sink before dipping it in my solution.
Doing it this way I will normally use up only ONE Pad(sometimes 2 depends what the weather was like outside) at a time instead of many. Plus its great when you have quick clean ups.
They claim they clean up to 900 sq ft. Personally even before Pets I could not get that full amount of usage. With pets maybe can handle 10 to 12 feet. Its too expensive to continue to change this every single time the pad gets dirty.
The Wetjets are good too but it doesn't take long for that bottle of solution to disappear plus the cost of changing the Pads. I have this also So I will make my own solution with Mr. Clean or Pinsole to get the same results.
I totally agree with Shannon I do the the same things with the swifter I reuse the same pad to save money. I will put water in my kitchen sink and that way when I am done I throw the pad away. I have one floor my kitchen I have to wet mop what I try to do is put down rugs and big cheap towels @ the door when my dogs come in from outside this helps a lot with the mud when it rains. I have two big dogs and I know how it is keeping my kitchen floor clean. I do clean houses and offices and It is a never ending job.
You need a different mop for your floor, I sweep my floors first, then I swiffer it then I wash it with a soft mop that doesn't hold too much water. I use "vim oxygel for floors" in my bucket, not too much, too much causes streaks and too much soap, after I mop I use my swiffer and I go over the floor and the shine comes up beautiful.
