How do i lose so many socks...?

Question:I put two pairs of socks in the washer and only three socks come out. Where do all the socks go? Is it true that socks can be flooded out when the rinse cycle drains and the socks go along with it?

Answers:
Trolls in your washer steal your socks. They then sell them on the black market to finance terrorists activities against dryers.

maybe the washer ate them!! ha ha
Undewear gnomes.
you might have the bad case of,,,,,,,,,,,,,, get ready,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,... monsters!!! AHHHHHHHHHHH. But seriously no if the socks are missing, they have to be in the washer still!!
There is a cartoon on PBS channel 11 in Chicago called ARTHUR. It is about an 8 yr old aardvark and his friends & family. There is an episode about the "sock exchange" which explains all about the stock exchange, supply and demand and general economics using the theory of what happens to socks when they disappear. It is funny as heck, yet very informative. I'm sure you can find the video/dvd or maybe the book (it's a cartoon adapted from a series of children's books by Marc Brown) If anyone has the time, it's worth looking up.and it seems the ONLY reasonable explanation as to what happens to all those lost socks!
Do you have a sock eater in you washer too ?? It happens to me all the time but then sometimes I find the sock snuggling up with a towel or some other of my laundry, The sock would have to go out those tiny little holes in the tub of the washer to go out in the rinse water Good Luck with the sock eating monster
Lost socks usually fall beside or behind the washer or dryer. Sometimes I have found them inside the legs of my husband's pants. They cling because of static electricity. I doubt very much that you are losing socks when the rinse cycle drains.
No, no Monsters. often times what will happen is the sock (during the wash or spin cycle) can a) slip between the basket and the housing of the washer if it over fills. I've had to take the plastic basket out of my washer once for a repair and there were quite a few socks in there! The other thing that can happen is the sock gets wedges under the agitator and wrapped around the gear. With really small, light items (like baby socks or footies) I always ended up using a mesh bag to keep 'em all from going to live with the sock monster
There's a little sock monster in the washer that gets them! I beat him tho, all my socks are the same style and color so I have no more mis-matches.
I used to have that problem, too! I used to hate trying to match socks and ending up with one sock shorter than the other. I finally figured out how to resolve that issue! I bought a package of medium sized safety pins from Wal-Mart for about $1.00 or so. Now when I buy socks, I pin them together as pairs straight out of the package. After I wear them, I pin them back together and throw them into the hamper. I wash and dry them (pinned together) with the rest of my white stuff. I've been doing that for over 3 years now and haven't lost a sock yet. The safety pins haven't rusted and ruined the socks, either. I just wish I'd thought of that earlier!

Unfortunately, I can't answer the questions on where they go. I'm sorry.
My dog steals mine. I have this problem too. However I am sure two do not really go in the washer. Look behind or under the washer.
It's not monsters... it's a one legged alien.
