Anyone know how to clean a microfiber suede couch with animal anal gland excretions?
Question:My couches are a slate blue colored microfiber suede. I came home today to a horrible smell. The couch was covered with a sheet (I have 2 cats and a dog) and there was a wet stain on it - it stunk! I soon realized it was anal gland excretion from one of my pets. How can I clean the fabric and get the smell out? The couch was over $3000 and I've had it less than a year, so tossing it is out of the question...help!

Whoever said that microfiber is the easiest to clean was just plain lying! Oh yes, I remember who said it. The guy who sold it to me...haha. Spot cleaning a microfiber couch is darn near impossible. However...
You need to check the tags on your fabric, but the slipcovers on my couch zip off, and I toss them in the washing machine. You can put it on delicate cycle if you want, but I don't. I also dry it in the dryer on the regular setting.
I was told by my salesperson to use neutrogena facial soap or any soap that is glycerin based. She also said to make sure it is mild and does not foam a lot. I use my carpet cleaner on my microfiber and use the least amount of soap I can and then rinse it with really hot water. I have two children and mine still look like new. You can also spray with Febreeze when you are done. Good Luck!
