Drying clothes?
Question:I have just bought a Hotpoint Aquarius washer dryer.
How long does it normally taketo dry a load? I had some towels in last night and after 90 mins they where still quite damp - The machine was about half full
Answers:
i have a washer dryer and its not brill if you wash a full load the best thing to do is take some out before you dry it because otherwise it takes forever i think the drums just aren't big enough for the drying bit.
I gues the answer might be 2 X 90 minutes (approx)
i normally put my clothes in the tumble dryer for 120 minutes
I am so envious! Anyway check the lint trap. And check for a kink in the hose. That would make the dryer think it's hotter than it is. If all else fails, there should be paperwork with the manufacturer's question and answer information as well as a phone number for support. Call that, it's your best option.
Have you got the machine on the highest spin possible, it should reduce drying time.
My dryer takes about 60-75 minutes. My old house it took more than 100 minutes because my vent was too long, and ran upward.
ahhh washer dryer...thats ur exact reason.
put 1 towel in at a time that should help.
washer dryers dont dry as good as standard separte dryers trust me..
Try the microwave ! its quicker. &if u put them in folded, they come out pressed too...
I have that washer dryer... and sometimes I wish i had the strength to throw it out the window! lol.
Ours takes about 2 hours, sometimes two and a half to dry a 'load' of washing.
It's frustrating because you must half a full load to dry.
To be totally honest, i beg for sunshine so I can dry my clothes outside, they dry so much faster on the line.
It should NEVER take over 45 to 50 minutes to dry a load of towels! You have a problem somewhere. I suspect the dryer vent isn't installed properly -- it can be an easy fix or difficult depending on how far the vent has to go to get outside and at what angle the vent is directed to the outside! Usually 50 minutes in a good regular sized dryer will dry towels very warm and fluffy! If you have one of those new-fangled machines that washes & dries -- I'm afraid it's cost you at the sales end & now it's gonna really cost you in energy !!! Remeber people -- the more BELLS & WHISTLES anything has the more expense & more trouble it's going to give you ! You should also clean out the filter AFTER OR BEFORE EVERY NEW LOAD !
And in this day and age ALWAYS look for the ENERGY STAR on an piece of equipment from toasters to radios to fridge to dryers to A/C units !! Energy costs are rising daily & everyone must learn to buy items for their energy savings! Change out every bulb in your house for florescent bulbs and you'll save 22 trees per year (I believe that's the number I saw -- it could be more trees than that -- senior moment)! One or two incandesent may be necessary, but if you change out 10 to 20 others with florescents you will contribute to saving the ozone ! And help protect our waters and animals! Try hanging your laundry out (except for towels) whenever the weather is nice! You'll get: fresh air, a chat with neighbors perhaps, exercise and you'll save MONEY $$$$$$$ !
Do read your owners manual. If it's brand new -- you may be able to refuse it due to the sales people not disclosing the problems and high energy and enviromental costs of this machine! If they wont help you, call your state department of commerce and they should be able to put a bit of pressure on the company!! Because this machine is gonna cost you BIG BUCKS ! Go for the simple things: a normal washer, ditto dryer, a VCR & separate DVD instead of the combos! These bells & whistles seem great, but they actually cause us alot of trouble , stress & often a lot of $$$$$$ !
Best of Luck !
If all else fails see if one of your local TV stations has a citizens help line that deals with consumer problems ! They usually have great sucess as the dealer doesnt want bad publisity !
check to see what temp you had the dryer set on. They have different temps for different types of clothes. For towel, would be hot
