How to turn hard water into soft water?


Question:There is lot of salt contents in my well water. I need to remove these salts

Hardness is of two types 1.temporary2.permanent
Temporary hardness can be removed by boiling the water&by adding required amount of milk of lime [ca(oH)2].
Permanent hardness can be removed by passing the hard water thru sodium aluminium ortho silicate[Na2Al2Si2O8.xH2O],sod... hexa meta phosphate,and by recently discovered ion exchange by resins


Add a sizeable amount of Alum into it. it will dissolve the salt and will deposit it separately
