Bleach, vinegar, ammonia...What combination cleans ceramic tiles the best and what combination is dangerous...
Question:Mostly concerned about dangerous combinations..
Answers:
Vinegar is the Best allnatural cleaner. DO NOT MIX ANY OF THE THREE YOU MENTIONED TOGETHER. You can mix each individual product with water, which I recommend you dilute those products, but do not mix them with anything else. Vinegar is great on the tile but if your grout is dirty, you may want to dilute some bleach and water then rinse well, let it dry quite a bit and then use vinegar and water to shine the ceramic a bit. Don't use ammonia with anything else other than water if you use it, but I would not even use it..vinegar will get the job done. If you are worried about the smell of vinegar, the water dilutes it and when it dries you'll never know you used such a stinky product.
welll.. don't use bleach & ammonia if u want to not get very sick. I stupidly did that many moons ago cleaning my bath stall... & w/no windows open. It was terrible.
I've mixed ammonia & vinegar w/ a little bit of dish soap & water to clean the windows... works really really good. Better than windex.
IF u'r trying to get mold off u'r tiles... get this stuff at the grocer strickly for tub & tiles to help get the mold off... LET it sit then clean & wash & do it again til it comes off. OR u can try bleach in a spray btl. but b careful b/c it burns, it will ruin clothes if u get the slightest on u & u need to have some time of way for the fumes to get out of the room.. like window or fan..
Never combine bleach and ammonia, you can produce Chlorine gas.
Ditto for Ajax and bleach.
I have white tile counter tops and I just mix bleach and water 50-50 and let it just sit on the counter tops and the look great, even the grout gets clean.
For floor tile I use pine sol, and it works fine.
Tile is so easy to clean, that is why I like it and am tiling my entire house.
Bleach and ammonia form a gas that can kill.
Just don't mix. Try one, then the other
Do NOT mix bleach with ammonia. Clorine, nitrogen trichloride and hydrazine can be formed. (That's bad...)
Never mix bleach with any other cleaners, especially ammonia or vinegar. The combo produces a poisonous gas and can knock you out cold or burn the eyes and throat.
Note: some of the newer sinks and tubs are not ceramic. Harsh cleansers will pit the material. I use a pink, soft lotion called "Gel Gloss".
I use either Tilex OR Scrubbing Bubbles on the tile. One way to keep tiles from getting water marks is to keep a rubber squeegee in the shower and wipe down the tile and doors after showering.
Why risk using chemicals at all? Get a small steamer at (Lowes, K-Mart, Wal-Mart) and steam it is way faster, cleaner and gets rid of germs!
