Help cleaning brushed Nickel?
Question:Any good ideas on how to clean my brushed nickel faucet? It seems to get some crusty stuff around the bottom of the faucets. I have used an old toothbrush to get in there, but it won't take away the hard stains. This is a fairly new faucet and I'd like to keep it looking that way. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

sTake an old toothbrush and white vinegar an rub at the scale build up. You wont believe how easy it come off an the beautiful shine left behind.
have u tried coca cola?
I would go in the cleaning department of wal-mart because I saw some things there today that clean nickel. I think it was in a tub.
I agree with the earlier answer. There are nickle cleaners out there, but I'm sorry, I don't remember the names. The crusty stuff is rust, and you have to stay on top of that. It also lime. Both are a bear to get out, and it's just plain easier to stay on top of it than to try to get it out later. Good luck.
YOU HAVE CALCIUM AND LIME BUILD UP. GO TO YOUR LOCAL HARDWARE STORE, AND ASK THEM FOR SOME THING THAT WILL REMOVE IT, AND NOT DAMAGE THE FINISH.
You have hard water mineral buildup. (If you look, you'll probably find similar crud around your showerhead and other faucets in the house.) You'll find that a paper towel, soaked in white vinegar, will dissolve and soften the mineral buildup.
Fuller Brush makes a wonderful product that will get all of this off. It's called "Dissolve". I have used it for years. You can order it from their web site and several catalogs. Some malls now have a Fuller Brush store. Years ago it was only sold door to door. I have been using many of their products sense the 60s.
There are two different things you can do.
1) You can try using a steam cleaner to get in there and blast the crud/rust off of it (if it is rust).
2) You can try using vinegar. I use white vinegar, and for faucets I put the vinegar in a bowl or cup and lift the bowl or cup up to the faucet. If things are really bad, I add baking soda - the chemical reaction is alarming but scrubs the heck out of most anything that's dirty.
