Why am I so compulsive about cleaning???
Question:~~~ Its Saturday,,,,,house cleaning day,,,,before my husband left for work this morning,,he said " honey,,,dont clean today,,,relax, go in the pool,,,watch an old movie,,,relax" But I cant relax untill I know the whole house is alll clean and shiney,,,,why,,,why do I get like this,,,,,cant relax till its clean??

Penny, I think it is how you were raised! I know that when I was growing up my mom had my brother and I clean EVERY SUNDAY! Sunday was cleaning day! And we weren't aloud to go outside and play until our rooms were clean, the garage was clean and swept and our clothes were put away! We even got in trouble if we didn't wipe out the kitchen sink when we were finished. We hated it. But now I am glad that she was that way because I am now the same. mabye not the kitchen sink part! I just wish I would have showed her a little more appreciation when I was younger because she worked hard to keep the house in order. I work hard to keep my house in order because I would hate for my husband and kids to come home to a dirty house. Some people are very lazy and their kids come home to a disgusting, filthy, stinky house and I feel sorry for them. My 5 year old complains every time I ask her to clean her room but sooner or later she will understand and will eventually be a neat freak like me!

It's called compulsive, and it can become a bad habit. I like clean, but every day is not necessary. Leave the house and force yourself to have some fun or visit with friends.
if u just entered the marrige there are studies that a certain chemical rises that people with obsessive compulsive disorder have... in 2-3(months/yrs i 4got srry) it should return to normal

ur maternal instincts are kicking in and you consider you husband to be the closest thing you have to a child so you want to make sure his environmet is germ free
if you are like me I have to clean before I do anything else I guess it is because you know it has to be done and you just want to get it over with and so you don't put it off and end up cleaning at night when your family is at home... I don't like coming home after going out and my house being dirty. I believe you are normal as anyone else that cares to have a clean home.

You are a perfectionist perhaps. It's so hard for a perfectionist to enjoy things because you're always being nagged by this need for order. First, your husband is right. It probably makes him unhappy when he sees youl so compelled to make the house spotless all the time. You don't want that, do you? Try this: breath deeply through your nose and let it slowly while you repeat this phrase in your head: "It won't make any difference to anyone in fifty years." Sounds like a joke, but it works! Good luck. Now, go get into your bathing suit!
