Answers:
always use paper plates,or eat out of take away containers

Your hands, a brush/sponge, and soap?

ETA: Make sure to get all of the food (either in the trash can or down the sink) off before you scrub them clean.
Wash them, dry them, and put them up as SOON as your done using them.
Get a really awesome dishsoap, brandname is best.

And then go to work & fill up a hot sink & just start washing!!

We let that stuff dry in a bin because we don't like drying so much and then just put it away.

You can also purchase counter top dishwashers that wash up to 4 place settings.
Use paper plates and plastic forks, spoons, knives, or even sporks that way you don't have to do any dishes.
I wash as I cook. If you have children living at home you might consider using paper plates and assigning 1 glass per day. That will help out a lot on the usage of plates and glasses. We have 2 teenagers at home with us. Paper plates are used during the day and dishes a supper time. Since they have been raised to use one glass per day. I only have 4 glasses at the end of the day.

I have a dish washer and I only use it one day a week. Normally I choose Mondays to catch up from the weekend.

If you have a double sink, or two small wash tubs, out one in each side of the sink. Fill one with HOT water and soap. Put silverware in first, then plates. Let set.

Fill the other side (or other bin) with HOT water, with a drop or two of Clorox (no more).

As soon as the dishes have been setting long enough for the water to cool off enough to use it, wash the plates and silverware, one at a time, and plunge into the rinse water on the other side of the sink. Swish rinse and put on a clean towel on the counter top to dry.

After all the nasty dishes are done, rinse both sinks (I much prefer bins -- they are a lot cleaner) and fill again. Do glasses.

EASY, VERY clean.
Keep them washed as you go...Then they wont pile up like mine do!
i wash dishes as i clean the kitchen.

i fill the dish pan with hot water right before we eat. putting all things used in the prep in there... when done eating i wash the stuff that was soaking...
then i refill the dishpan with the place settings...
as i put the left overs away the first round of dishes is drying and the second is soaking...

then i clean the table and stove and wipe down the counter... by now the first round of dishes is usually dry and i put them away and do the second round...

leave them in the strainer as i wipe down the sink and dish pan and walk away. can go back and put the dishes away later or use them for the next meal...

having a couple plates and silverware in a strainer isnt all that bad. beats a pile of dirty dishes in the sink LOL
