What is the best way to iron a male shirt?
Question:I need to know the sequence to be more specific, like should I begin ironing the collar first then arms and then the body or is there any other simple and easier sequence.
Answers:
Iron collar first, then iron yoke which is behind the neck and between the sleeves on the back of the shirt. you can fold the shirt in half across the back to do this so the yoke lays flat; if you get a crease across the back, you can press that out later.
Then the sleeves, one half of front, back and other half of front.
Did you know that only "casual shirts" get a crease on the sleeve? You use a "ham" to iron a sleeve without a crease on a dress shirt.
First I iron the collar..then the body and lastly the sleeves.
Same way you would iron a female shirt
The front body first then back then top back, then sleeves, then collar.
This is how I iron shirts:
(1) Sleeves
(2) Left side of shirt & iron the back, then iron the right side
(3) Collar (start at the tips of the collar, so they won't pucker, then finish the rest of the collar.
(4) Put on a hangar right away, so it won't get wrinkled
1.) Make sure the board is level with your hips, so that you can place your palms on the board without bending your knees.
2.) Check the label of your garment and set the iron's temperature accordingly. Also, make sure the iron is full of water or keep a spray bottle handy because clothes iron best when they're slightly damp.
3.) Iron all parts that have double-thickness first. i.e. pants legs, sleeves, collars and pockets.
4.) Iron outward in a slow up-and-down pattern. Do not move in circles because it will stretch the fabric.
5.) For button-down shirts, iron the reverse side of the button row first. Iron the wrong side of a shirt collar first and then the front for less wrinkling. For pockets and cuffs, do the wrong side first.
