CD Storage: Would it be better?
Question:to place my cd collection in a cd binder, or to keep them in their individual plastic cases and place them in those plastic gallon containers.
Once I load the cds to my computer I never really see them unless I lend them out to friends.
Answers:
my step dad has lots of cds he never sees after he puts them on the compy...he uses the cd binders. i think thats better, i think they will be easier to store that way, like they dont take up as much room and alsoif you really need to find a cd, you dont have to go digging you can just flip thru the pages of the binder...
I think keeping them in their jewel case makes them more lendable.
you need to be careful with the cd binders... they tend to scratch the cds when you slide them in and out of the pockets... i think keeping them in the jewel cases or even the thinner ones for space reasons is better because they just snap in and dont slide... less chance of getting scratched...
they make small plastic containers about the size of a shoe box made for cd casess so its easier then just a huge tub of cds you would need to dig thru... and if you are lending them to people having them in the case would be easier then handing them an unprotected cd out of a book
i never cared for the binders as they can crack if sat on etc.. i like the individual cases then store them in a big storage container besides if you lend them out it would be best to have them protected individually
The binders when full take a really long time to go through to find a CD, believe me. I have found over time that first of all, the CDs are much more protected when left in their original cases than in a binder because they can slip out of the plastic slots and also can get scratched while putting them into those slots and taking them out. Plus if you drop the binder, CDs will go everywhere.
Now, if you leave them in their original cases, the title is on the side like a book binding and you can file them in a shelf stand or anything like that and then you can see all of the titles at the same time without having to turn pages etc. This is also the best way to store because you don't risk having them broken because a binder just doesn't protect them like the original cases do. Hope this helps!
