I need to paint some exterior trim on a playhouse.?

Question:The trim gets stained a rusty color from our sprinkling system. Is there a product I should use to remove the rusty stains first or can I just put on a primer and then paint over it. The trim is white.

Both answers above are good but sounds like you have a problem with a lot of iron in your water. Follow up the painting with a really good sealer. Talk to the folks at your hardwarer store for a good waterproof sealant.

I would use Kilz primer first so the color doesn't bleed through.

STEVETOWER correct. Wash first with cleanser in water preferrable with a brush - - dry well - - primer, etc...
