Great yard sales?
Question:So I'm planning on having a HUGE yard sale (well more baby clothes and stuff than anything else) and I've never had a yard sale or even helped a friend with one. So I have no idea where to begin. Also with pricing, it will kill me to put a $5.00 sticker on a $150 baby stroller in good condition. So ANY and ALL help, tips, ideas, what have you will be GREATLY appreciated. Please! I'm SO lost here! Thanks guys!

First off if you are having a yard sale you should consider many things..
Its hard work.. You need to get organized probably the day before if you can.. to set up your tables etc..
The day of the sale you have to start early.. and place all your items..
Be sure you have someone with you to watch your things while you go into the house for food, water, etc...
Never leave your stuff unattended..
Advertising..!!
There are many free sites on line that will display your ad for free..just google yard sale in your area and post as many as you can..
Make posters, large readable signs that you can post around your neighborhood.. Make sure you remove them after the sale though.
Put up a flyer on the bulletin boards of your local stores etc..
You can also place an ad in the local paper but this will cost you.. if you do make it short.. date, time and location..
Now there are always people who will come very early.. these are probably re-sellers looking for the best deals ..
You are better to set a time one hour later than you wish to open because of them. or you will find many are rude to the point of actually checking your boxes before you unpack..
I have found this out by trial and error so now I post a later time to open.. even if I am ready an hour earlier.. and also when I place an ad I just mention no early-birds please.. it helped a lot..
Now for your items..
Your higher priced items will never get your asking price in a yard sale.. You would be better off placing an ad on line or in your local paper for these items.. to get your price..
People who venture yard sales are looking for cheap bargains.. You must keep that in mind..
For the other items.. You should always put a buck or two higher than what you are willing to accept as most people will bargain you down..
Make sure the prices are visible.. as you don't want people to keep asking you prices..
Now if you see a person is very interested in an item.. but they don't talk and are walking away... ask them ..Make them an offer they can't refuse.. You will be amazed how often I have made sales doing this..
Keep a money box.. out of sight. and if you get a lot.. put some away inside you house.. just in case..
Keep about $30.00 in change ..on hand as most times they will buy a $1.00 item and hand you $20.00 .. this is for the people who don't go to many yard sales.. the regulars always have lots of change themselves. but be prepared anyway!!
I guess that is about all the tips I have for you..
Hope you have a great selling day!!
Go to several yard sales in your area and see how people are pricing their stuff. that way, you will get an idea on the going rate.
If the stroller and other baby stuff is in excellent condition, you might take them to Once Upon a Child and sell them there.
Well, the whole point of having a sale is to get rid of your things, right? So.. try to be cheap on your things, except for things like the stroller, you can get atleast 20.00-30.00 if its still in great shape! Good luck with the sale!
You should probably sort out the things you can't bear to part with for a song. Take the really expensive stuff to a consignment shop. You will get more out of it than your yardsale. Everyone will come to the yardsale looking for a bargain. The whole idea is to buy stuff dirt cheap. People will try to bargain with you ... offer to buy your "like new" $100 car seat for $10 -
Re-think it or I'm afraid you'll be very dissapointed.
