How can I get a dirty sectional sofa clean?
Question:I bought a large sectional sofa in a yard sale for $100 and It looks good. Alls it needs is to be cleaned because it has some stains and the color is alittle darker than it should be. Is there something I can do to restore it original color or get it looking clean?
Answers:
resolve and or a rug doctor with a hand attachment
Some carpet shampooers you can hire and steam cleaners can be used for furniture. They give good results, but it'll never look like new again.
I have used a rug doctor before with an upolstery attachment. Worked miracles! You can rent them at most grocery stores, home improvement stores and pet stores.
Resolve also makes a new cleaner for fabrics you can't just throw in the wash. SUpposedly you spray it on and it cleans as it dries. I've never used it so I can't attest to its effectiveness.
Stanly Steemer does a good job.
I used to work for a carpet/upholstery cleaning comp. long time ago. They bought a powerful cleaning agent from a professional vaccum/shampooer store. Then we took firm brushes and scrubbed. It really did get things clean, I think the trick is to buy the professional grade cleaner.
two options
1) pour bleach over all of it. It will all turn into the same bleached color
2) get a spot cleaner and wash it
3) buy/make new cusions.

I would definitely call a professional cleaner on this. And if the cleaning didn't help, you could always contact an upholster and chose your own fabric to cover it with.
rent a steam cleaner and clean it. .
i would definitely call a professional and ask them what they would do to restore the fabric to original color and find out how much they charge. call around a few places and let the pro's take care of it for you.
First vacuum it, and If you don't have your own steam cleaner, then rent one. They work great. Don't use more cleaner/detergent than it specifies. Then it's too hard to get it out. Before you do this though, pre-treat it with a safe teatment like woolite or Bissell cleaner.
