How do you get the sticky off from old Duck Tape?
Question:I have a foot stool that cracked and I put Duck Tape on it. When the edges started to curl, I peeled it off to put new. It left a VERY sticky mess that I tried everything to get off, alcohol doesn't work, has to come off cuz new tape won't lay flat and stick right with it like this. HELP
Answers:
WD40 works best. It is Duct tape because it was initially used to seal the joints in air ducts
Try some WD-40 spray or nail polish remover...=)
goo gone. nail polish remover could remove the paint/lacquer from the furniture.
What's "duck" tape ?
♥TayLee♥'s answer will work. However, go to a Home Depot or Lowes and ask for the product that is specifically made to remove Duct Tape Goo!
I suppose the stool is Wooden. Why don't you prep the cracked leg, get some Glue for the specific Job and make a permanent fix. If you use a oily Goo remover, future repairs using glue may not Stick. {:~D
Have you thought about using "Gorilla Glue" for a more permanent repair?
Also WD40 should get you out of your 'sticky' situation. LOL
I use lighter fluid to remove almost any adhesive, scuff or mar on almost any surface. Just be careful with the stuff - highly flammable! But it works great! p.s. officially called duct tape (for HVAC) but commonly referred to as Duck tape. And there is an actual brand name of Duck tape that comes in a huge variety of colors. I'm very fond of the duck tape for repairs. Good luck!
Try this product called GOO Gone you can get it from walmart or similar stores. You can also try pine sol use a dry cloth and rub hard and its Duck!
use wd40. i had a sticky mess on the window of my car where the for sale sign was...you just spray it on, let it sit for a couple, then wipe it off with a soft rag; an oil rag is best, but if you dont have one, a washcloth will do...good luck!
WD 40 or an all purpose heavy duty grease remover like "purple power" (I get mine from an auto parts store) And both Duct AND Duck tape are correct. DUCT tape is the type of tape, and DUCK tape is a brand of tape. (You can tell by the ducks in overalls on the inside of the roll... lol)
