How do you clean the outside of an iron?
Question:cant get the iron clean, the part where you iron
Answers:
use a moist peice of paper but make sure the paper isn't completely wet.
When it is turned off use a wet soft towel - you can also use one right after you turn it off - not when it is super hot but just warm. You can also run distilled water in it to keep it cleaner longer - tap water can make hard water stains on it. Vinegar also works, in case something is stuck on it. I accidentally ironed a pair of pants (black) and they shouldn't have been ironed, I got black mess all over it and the vinegar took it off.
Momma always used "White Vinegar" and a old clean cotton sock to clean left over starch off her iron.
You can buy iron cleaner in this little tube at walmart. It comes with two of them. I use these for my iron. They cost like $3 or so but so worth it. YOu spread it on an old cloth then iron on it and out goes the burns.
I have always bought iron cleaner at my local shopping center.
It comes in little tubes and usually as a 2-pack. You get the iron hot and put the tube on an OLD towel, then you just iron the towl and all the built on stuff from general ironing to the spray starch will come right off onto the towel.
It also lubes the bottom of the iron and makes it super easy to glide across fabrics.
Hope it helps
