How do you clean the top of a stove (seriously)?

Question:How can I get all the built up gunk around the burner off (the black stuff)?

Answers:
Buy some oven cleaner in a spray can. Put newspaper down so it wouldn't drip on the floor. Spray the bad spots and let it sit for a few hours and it will just wipe off.

Use an SOS or Brillo pad.
Ok, here is a secret cleaner. Mean Green. You can buy it at Dollar General and I am serious, it is awesome stuff. Also buy a couple razor blades and scrape it off.
Oven cleaner
Soft scrub and a scrubbie. Try Mr. Clean erasers too.
My Dear Friend,
I come form the vast lands of INDIA and i have learnt that to clean your stove, you need to either use JIFF spray.

Or, you can use lemon juice. Personally, i think Lemon Juice works the best since my darling wife uses that to clean our stove and it works wonders.

So, my friend, Happy Cleaning!

Kind Regards,
Dr. Krishna Narendran Swami Batchalan Murthy :)
Mr clean erasers suck big time, I bought them and couldnt believe what a waste of money they were. Oven cleaner sounds like a good bet, im gonna try it. I usually use pine sol.
I use the Mr. Clean magic erasers, but the generic one's work too.. Wet it with water and lightly scrub the area, if you use too much pressure you will take the finish off the appliance... Then go to Bed Bath and Beyond and get some burner plates... They are not expensive and you won't have that problem anymore... *Bring your BBandB coupons you can use up to five at one time... I got 4 lifetime warranty burner plates for around $20 they are around $15 a piece for the nice one's.. Or get cheapie one's that will rust for $4 a piece... Just check the manufacter of your stove before you buy..
AJAX BLEACH WITH A WASHCLOTH AND THEN SCRUB SCRUB SCRUB OR MR.CLEAN MAJIC ERASER
soft scrub and a scrubbie sponge... if you use a razor or anything hard and sharp like that you could ruin the finish on the stove...

oven cleaner would work too but the fumes are horrid... make sure you read the instructions.

greased lightning is an awesome cleaner as well
