How can you get melted plastic off of your stovetop burner?

Question:there isn't much, a burner was turned on and my kitty pawed a frozen package onto the burner and it got sticky right away. Is there anything I can do besides scraping it off?

Answers:
if there is a lump of it pick it off... dont use metal to scrape it./... then just turn the burner on high.

about every other week i will just turn all my burners on high to burn off anything that may be on them... sometimes it smokes a little but the exhaust fan and windows take care of that

It will smell but if its a coil type burner just burn it off, use the exhaust fan. You could damage burner if you scrape too hard, if you so scrape ues a razor blade.
good luck
You could try to use a hair blow dryer to see if you could soften the plastic to the point where you could easily remove / lift it, since it is just a small area. Of course, it is important to be cautious not to reburn it.
scrape off as much as you can, open the windows and turn it on high, it will burn off.
Sorry I didn't answer this last night - I hit my limit.

Acetone (nail polish remover) dissolves most plastics used in food packaging. Use a paper towel with acetone on it to wipe it off - you don't want to transfer the plastic to your cleaning rags.

Good Luck!
