How do i get this off of my dress??

Question:after i washed one of my dresses i began to iron it. as i was ironing it, something came out of the iron and went onto my dress, i think that it was salt and water. i tried washing it off with soap and water, but it will not come off. how do i get this mark off of my dress?

Ask Monica Lewinski.

It is possible that the iron burned some of whatever it is onto there. I have had irons just start spewing brown stuff, and I just got a new one.
I would try hydrogen peroxide with a towel underneath.
It depends...what type of material is the dress made of and what setting was the iron on?

If it was salt and water, it should have come off. Was the substance clear, yellow, or brownish?
There is a product that will remove just about any stain...Lestoil. I found it at the grocery store after washing and drying a load of white---with a PURPLE crayon my son left in a pocket. And it removed the dried crayon! It smells rather strong, so I have to wash the clothing a couple of times to remove the smell. Not offensive or anything, just smells like a strong cleaner. I have used it for YEARS since that incident (my son is now 16) for everything from car oil, red wine and butter from movie theater popcorn. Good luck!
