Our family dog has urinated on my son's mattress, how do I remove the ordor?
Question:I have already blotted it up and used our furniture scrubber, but the order is still there.
Answers:
Nowadays, removing urine from carpets and mattresses is not a very difficult task. There are products available mainly for removing the stain and smell of pet and human urine. Nature's Miracle and Simple Solution are two products, which are good ones. You need to soak your mattress with the solution at least two to three times for the pets urine stain and smell to be removed completely.
Some other ways to remove the urine from the mattress are to pour vinegar on the mattress and suction it with a vacuum machine. Putting alcohol on the urinated area is another method to remove stains and smell. Some people put shampoo on the mattress and clean it and dry the mattress in the sun.
They sell some really good animal stain remover at any pet shop. There are a few different kinds... but they all work really well.
Perhaps also Lysol (the spray) can remove the odor (but not the stain)
kill the dog and the odor dissapears
Honestly i dont think your son will ever want to sleep on that bed again get him a new mattress and leave the old one for the dog
Resolve makes a great pet stain and odor remover. And it also discourages more soiling. It's in a red bottle and it can be found at Target or Wal-Mart...or anywhere in the cleaning isle or near the pet supplies.
You will need to replace the mattress with a new one. Urine smells from cats & dogs, never come out.
There are things sold at Wal-Mart that can get it up. I've heard that UrineBGone is good.
I have elderly dogs who have had bladder problems so I know what you are dealing with. I used the product OdorBGone and it worked great. It removed the stain and the odor. I applied it twice and then set the mattress outside a whole day to sun dry and air out too. Then for safety measure I put a vinyl cover on the mattress.
Hope this helps;)
