How do I get rid of an unknown stain?

Question:There is an unknown stain in damask [sp?] material covering an end-of-the-bed bench, so the material cannot be removed. This stain is about 6" by 4" and the material is a beige stripe. Can anyone give me a fool proof stain remover?

Answers:
a little of water warm

U can buy a foam shampoo in cans for stain removing on cushions if U cannot take the coves off.

Spray this onto the patch directly, wait for a five minutes & then if U have a special vaccum cleaner that has this water suction type U vaccum over it. If U dont have this, U take a wet cloth & rub it vigrously till u see it getting lighter.

Another way is take a cake of soap, wet it at tip & rub this over the patch till it covers the patch with the soap wetting it a bit so it will penetrate into the fabric. Few minutes U take the old tooth brush & rub it up & down till u see the foam building up. Take a wet towel & rub over it with water removing the soap &rinse & repeat this many times till the soap is removed properly & U have seen the results clean & clear.
First I would try Soda water, It's just carbonated water. The fizzing action usually works well and leaves no residue behind.

If that didn't work I would try oxyclean. Follow directions on the bottle/tub.
The problem with damask is that liquids will leave a water stain. I would try Resolve or Capture dry carpet cleaning granules. The moisture in them will not be enough to leave a ring, but agitate the granules a little to get the stain fighters into the fiber of the fabric. I have a little beige damask bench at the end of my bed that the dog uses to climb up on the bed. This method worked to remove dirty paw prints on it without damage to the upholstery.
Folex...this is great stuff. Will not bleach or damage. It took permanent ink out of the couch arm.
I swear by Goop brand Hand cleaner. A small amount rubbed into the stain and then rubbed dry with a CLEAN cloth. Note try it in an inconspicuos place prior to somewhere it will show. Good Luck.
I keep a bottle of Peroxide for stain problems. Same thing as Oxyclean but much cheaper and easier to use the liquid on spills. I've never had it take the color out of anything and I've used it on fine fabrics, tee shirts, upholstery and rugs. Put it on a white washcloth or towel (never clean stains with a colored cloth) then rub it on an inconspicuous place first to test for color fastness. If that turns out o.k., try it on the stain. I just blot some on and let it sit a minute or two then gently rub. Don't rub your damask too much or it may get "pilly". Good luck.
Fels Naptha soap. You can find it in the detergent aisle in your grocery store. It is a bar soap used for stains. It gets everything out!
Try gently with a soft cloth and dab a small area with oil of euclyptus. Or try, putting on baking soda and leaving it for a few hours and vacuum it off.
