HI..I have just bought a shirt from overseas...unfotrunately it SMELLS.I have tried washing it but no luck!?
Question:Can anyone suggest how I remove a smell from a shirt. Perhaps it is the dye that was used?? It is a Tommy Bahama Silk shirt (not a cheap one!) but I can't wear it because of the smell...it smells a bit like a chamois. So if there is anyone that can help me solve this crisis (as it is a lovely shirt and I want to wear it) can you please offer me some advice.
Many thanks Roger

THIS MAY SOUND REALLY ODD, BUT YOU CAN ADD ABOUT 1/8 CUP OF (AVON) SKIN SO SOFT TO YOUR WASHER WATER... FILL WASHER WITH WATER, ADD SKIN SO SOFT AND AGGITATE FOR A SEC OR TWO AND THEN ADD GARMENT... CONTINUE ON YOUR REG CYCLE AND WHEN FINISHED EITHER (PREFERRED) HANG TO DRY OR PLACE IN DRYER..
GOOD LUCK!
Vinegar and water- 1 cup in washing machine
try dry cleaners or fabreeze?
Bleach is a deodorant. 3/4 cup for one load
It is probably the dye. I purchased some thread and fabric once and ended up having to throw it all out--the stench was way bad and found no way to get rid of it.
You might try washing the shirt on gentle, cold, and using a very smelly fabric softener and then use the same type of dryer sheet and see if it helps--do not totally dry (on low) and then hang to finish drying.
maybe if you air it out the smell will fade
I agre with the vinigar, but add some salt to the water also.
