What constitutes a 'sealed wood floor' ?
Question:Just bought a new steam cleaner that can only be used on sealed wood floors.
Does this mean I need to go out and buy something to coat my floor with or does it simply just mean laminate floor that has been glued together rather than clicked?
- the infomercials never tell you these catches!

Hi, As I understand it it means a wooden or laminated floor which has had a seal ( varnish ) over it to seal the joints between each piece of wood. The recommendation to use the steamer on sealed wood is so that the steam doesn't get between the wood and lift it.
any floor that wont abosrb that moisture.
if it did, it will warp and lift, and never lie flat properly again. Most laminate floor are not design for 'wet' areas.
seal mean varnish (after sanding) 2 -3 times
wax or oil , again sand or varnish
It take a bit of work to seal a floor and will change the look it. Why dont you just brush the floor?
If you use the steamer on laminate flooring then there's quite a good chance you will damage the flooring. Normal soap and water with a bit of bleach should be good enough. You could try using sugar soap or soda crystals in the water if you want but unless the floor is extremely dirty you wont need it.
Steam cleaner is just not a good idea on any wood or laminated floor... Steam means temperature changes with water on a material that expands and contracts with moisture content. Wood floor is like a honeycomb, it will expand and contract and have space to suck moisture in...You're better off using a Bona hardwood floor cleaner and a fiber swifter, the liquid evaporates very fast.
