I have a self cleaning oven. Today, I melted plastic in it. It is on the rack and the bottom. How to clean?

Question:

Answers:
Try to scrape it off with a wooden spoon or some type of wood or plastic scraper (go easy thou, and be extra careful if the scraper is hard plastic, other then trying that, not sure what to do, as if you turn on Cleaner it will cause the plastic to burn and fumes may be toxic. Do not scrape the oven coating off!!

Don't use the self cleaner mode. (I used it and ended up burning some of the plastic trim on the outside oven vent. The GE warranty repairman told me it's better to NEVER use the self-clean. He did replace the entire plastic trim under warranty though.)

I just cleaned my self-cleaning oven a week ago this way: buy some Easy Off oven cleaner and spray it inside the oven and let it sit for 2 hours. Grease and other stains come off. Worked great for me! I'm not sure about plastic melting inside the oven, but it should come off.
Scrape or peel off what you can, then turn on the self clean and leave windows openand fans on for ventilation, and leave the house for at least the first hour or so. Don't forget to take your pets with you!
You should be able to peel it off once the oven is completely cooled down.
