How can I get the cigarette smoke smell out of my textbook?
Question:my textbook is paperback and it has thin pages, so it might be hard to hang up in order to air it out. I know febreeze works to get smoke smell out of clothing, but it's a liquid spray, not aerosol based, so what can I use/should I do?

Apparently cat litter is good for absorbing stinky smells. Try putting your book into a bag laid on a layer of the stuff (clean obviously!!) and leave it for a few days.
I am not really sure how the smoke smell got there unless it is a used book.
What works for me is putting the book outside and letting it air out. We always put things outside if they smell like smoke and if it is windy, it takes less time for your book to air out.

The best thing I have found to remove odors from old books is cedar chips. You can buy these from your local feed or pet store. Place the book in a large zip-loc back together with a couple handfuls of the cedar chips. Place the bag somewhere dry and cool for a few days. It's done the trick for me many times and removes the smell of cigarettes, mold and mildew. And the cedar smells really good, too.
Put it in a plastic bag like a large Ziploc bag with a dryer sheet like Bounce for a few days.
wrap your textbook with a clean towel and then wrap that towel with another towel that is wrung out with white distilled vinegar. keep it wrapped for day or so...
First try placing outside in the sun , then you might want to try putting it in a plastic bag or a paper bag with baking soda, or baby powder.
I think the plastic bag and cedar chips idea sounds the best so far. I would also consider laying it in the sun or using the dryer sheet but be careful with those, they can leave oily stains.
I agree with richmond girl. I have actually used this way of deodorizing before. Works great. You don't have to use cat littler with a scent either, as long as it's able to absorb... you'll be fine. Hope this helps
