Help, how can I remove a lasting Pet odor from my cellar?

Question:I am completely overwhelmed by the smell of cat urine in my basement. I have had my carpets cleaned and deoderized 2x in the past 2 weeks and I just can't shake the smell. I'm selling my house and I need to find a solution that actually works! Help!!

Answers:
First make sure your carpet and pad has completely dried out. That means open all the windows and doors you can, if it is humid it will take longer and basements are real hard to dry out. Also put some fans down, you would be suprised how long it takes for carpet to really dry out. The once everything has had a few days of good ventilation sprinkle some baking soda on the carpet and allow it to sit for several days then vacuum. Repeat the baking soda procedure a second time. There is even a baking soda carpet freshener for pets by ARm and Hammer, try it, that is what I used. You just really need to get everything aired out. If you had your carpets cleaned twice in 2 weeks I would be there is a lot of humidity down there and even though you don't think so it is still damp.

If that doesn't work I have heard you can go the pet store or pet dept. of another store and find soemthing that breaks down the enzymes.

have a look in your phone directory ot may have rotted the wood and thats whats creating the smell look for flor specilistes
Contact a professional carpet cleaner there is something that they can spray on the carpet to eiliminate the odor, plus they use a black light to find the areas that are soiled..
Cat Urine Odor
If your cat has had an accident on the carpet, you're going to need to remove urine odor in addition to the stain. To do so, first clean the stain with a soapy solution made of dish washing detergent and water. Blot until the entire stain is lifted, and blot again with a damp sponge. In order to remove the cat urine odor, cover the cleaned stain with baking soda and leave overnight to neutralize.
Also a mixture of half water and half vinegar will neutralize the odor also...Good Luck! =)
the pad under the carpet works like a sponge, so when you get the carpet wet you are also getting the pad wet which brings the urine up from the pad through to the carpet. You can get a rug shampooer yourself and mix regular pine sol and water together and shampoo the carpet, since cats spray you might want to also use a spray bottle of the same mixter and spray around the edges so that it soaks into the tack strip and helps get rid of the smell. I'd use a 60/40 mix the 60 being the pinesol.
